Study: Most Wuhan COVID-19 survivors have long lasting symptoms
A study of more than 1,700 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China, in the first half of 2020 found 76% had at least one lingering symptom of the disease six months later. "Our analysis indicates that most patients continue to live with at least some of the effects of the virus after leaving the hospital, and highlights a need for post-discharge care, particularly for those who experience severe infections," said one of the researchers in a news release from The Lancet, which published the study. People with severe disease were more likely to show impaired lung function and reduced kidney function. (HealthDay News article, 1/11/21)
