QuickFire Challenge in COVID-19 Patient Care Awardees Announced
Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS, together with AONL and the Society of Nurse Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs, & Leaders (SONSIEL), announced this week that IsoPouch and Pain Rehabilitation Virtual Reality (PR-VR) have been selected as the awardees in the Johnson & Johnson Nurses Innovate QuickFire Challenge in COVID-19 Patient Care. Awardees will receive a combined total of $100,000 in grant funding, mentoring from experts across the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, and access to the Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS ecosystem. Kathleen Malouf, BSN, RN, a pediatric nurse at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J., will receive funding for IsoPouch, a disposable stick-on pouch for health care workers wearing isolation gowns. The pouch allows health care workers to carry their supplies more easily while delivering patient care. Jennifer Stinson, PhD, RN-EC, CPNP, nurse scientist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, will receive funds for her team’s idea to develop and implement a virtual reality solution, PR-VR, as an at-home rehabilitation treatment for adolescents with chronic pain.
