New COVID-19 antibody test predicts disease severity

Scientists have developed a COVID-19 antibody test so sensitive it can predict whether a patient will experience mild or severe symptoms of the disease. While most Food and Drug Administration-approved antibody tests look for one or two viral antigens, this novel test looks for a dozen. The breakthrough was achieved by scientists at the University of Denver's Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging working in collaboration with two private sector entities. (KVUE ABC article, 1/7/21)
