HHS outlines action plan to reduce maternal mortality
An action plan released this month by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) employs a holistic approach and targets uncontrolled hypertension in women of child-bearing age. The plan also calls for improving access to mental health and substance use services and focusing more on racial disparities in maternal mortality. The plan’s goals include halving U.S. maternal mortality rates by 2025 and lowering the number of low-risk cesarean deliveries. (Modern Healthcare article, 12/3/20)
