Zangerle Named AONL CEO
The American Hospital Association named Claire Zangerle, DNP, RN, AONL CEO and AHA senior vice president and CNE, effective Dec. 2. Zangerle will lead the work of AONL and the AONL Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research and Education to advance excellence in nursing leadership for its 12,000 members. She also will provide clinical expertise to the AHA, supporting key quality and workforce initiatives and ensuring public policy initiatives incorporate nursing leaders’ perspectives. "As a lifelong advocate for nurses and nurse leaders, I can’t imagine a better way to continue this work than with these important roles," she said. Zangerle is currently principal of CMZ Strategies, LLC, a consulting firm focused on nurse leader coaching and nurse organization strategy. She previously served as Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network’s CNE and the CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio, based in Cleveland. Zangerle is a current member of the AONL Board of Directors and former board of trustee for the AHA. She succeeds Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, who is retiring after six years in the position.
