Urgent care center reduces behavioral health hospital visits

After Cone Health opened its behavioral health urgent care center in North Carolina in 2021, hospital stays and emergency department visits fell for behavioral health, and health disparities declined, according to an American Hospital Association case study. The Guilford County Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center is a partnership between the Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health and surrounding Guilford County. The Center offers behavioral health care and crisis behavioral health care without the need for an emergency department visit. It also provides support in a stigma-free environment focused on individual wellness and recovery.
