Task force recommends screening adults for anxiety
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force announced for the first time this week that clinicians should screen adults between the ages of 19 to 64 for anxiety. The task force, in a recommendation published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, said anxiety screenings can catch disorders that often go undiagnosed or underdiagnosed. Even when diagnosed, patients often receive delayed or inadequate care. The USPSTF found insufficient evidence to screen for anxiety disorders in older adults. (JAMA Network recommendation, 6/20/23)
