Study: Hiring DNP-prepared NPs results in perceived ROI
Hiring DNP-prepared nurse practitioners should bring a return on investment value for organizations, according to a study published in the October issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. The study used a cross-sectional descriptive survey to assess the association of educational level and work experience with the perceived impact of NP role effectiveness. Participants included 128 NPs with an average of 9.5 years of experience since graduating from their programs; 90 had earned MSN degrees, and 36 had attained DNP degrees. DNP-prepared nurses were significantly more likely to have a higher perception of their overall outcome impact compared to MSN-prepared nurses. The authors attribute the difference to the broader education of DNP graduates.
