Staff say hospitals inadequately address workplace violence
Slightly less than half of hospital providers and staff agreed their hospital appropriately addresses physical and verbal aggression from patients and visitors, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s 2024 Surveys in its Patient Safety Culture Hospital Workplace Safety Supplemental report. Patient care aides, hospital aides and nursing assistants were least likely to feel that hospitals appropriately addressed workplace aggression, with 38% agreeing. The 2024 results include data from 61,767 provider and staff at 94 hospitals, with a 47% average response rate.
