Shared CNO/CMO leadership model improves care, leaders say

The chief nursing officer (CNO) and chief medical officer (CMO) at LifePoint Health, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based health care system, said they have improved team-based care through a dyad leadership model implemented in 2019. AONL member Michelle Watson, senior vice president and CNO, RN, and Christopher Rehm, MD, senior vice president and CMO, together oversee all clinical, quality and patient safety initiatives. The leadership model “is one clinical voice driving quality and safety across the organization,” Watson said.
