Rounding software captures patient stories, boosts HCAHPS
Nurse leader rounding software in use at one New York City hospital is improving the quality of the patient experience as measured by the facility’s hospital consumer assessment of healthcare providers and systems (HCAHPS) scores. At Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital, nurse leaders used software to convey data to leaders in real time so they could take steps to improve the patient experience. In addition to capturing the 5 Ps (potty, pain, position, possessions and peaceful environment), the software allows users to note what matters most to patients in free notes. Since adopting the software in 2018, Lenox Hill has seen its HCAHPS scores rise from the 19th to the 93rd percentile. (HealthLeaders Media article, 6/9/21)
