Respiratory virus levels remain high, CDC says
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the amount of acute respiratory illness causing people to seek health care remains high. Emergency department visits are very high for diagnosed influenza, moderate for respiratory syncytial virus but low for COVID-19. Influenza test positivity increased to 25% nationally, while COVID-19 and RSV test positivity remained stable at 6.2% and 8.8%, respectively. The agency predicts ED visits for influenza will be high and will increase in most states for the next two weeks. (CDC website, 1/24/25)
