Report: Nurses are more satisfied with EHRs
Nurses expressed more satisfaction with electronic health records in 2023 compared with 2019, although challenges with reliability and response times remain, a report from KLAS Research found. The information technology solutions firm surveyed roughly 75,000 nurses from 171 health care organizations about their EHR experience and satisfaction. Nurses reported a net EHR satisfaction score of 50.9 in 2023 compared with 38.2 in 2019. Of the one-third of nurses who reported burnout in 2023, 32% cited their EHR as a contributing factor. Nurses were dissatisfied with their EHRs because of slow loading times (68%), slow login processes (61%), hardware issues (57%) and unplanned downtime (35%). They said more comprehensive initial training and training specific to their workflows could improve EHR education. (Becker’s Hospital Review article, 8/20/24)
