Nurse leaders should leverage social media to attract, retain nurses

Nurse leaders should develop a strategic, data-informed approach to use social media to attract and retain nurses, according to an article in the October issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. More than 800 nurses responded to the cross-sectional, quantitative descriptive survey between May and July 2023. The majority of respondents (61%) were satisfied or highly satisfied with their job, yet about 33% intended to leave their position or organization within one to 12 months. Clinical RNs did not use LinkedIn often, even though nurse leaders consider it the best platform for recruitment. The authors say nurse leaders can use social media to promote the profession to the public, attract nurses to specific organizations and use it for professional development activities, among other uses.
