Nurse leaders detail five rights of AI in health care
Nurse leaders should ensure health systems implement artificial intelligence with the right objective, approach, competency, data and safeguards, according to a Journal of Nursing Management article. These “Five Rights of AI in Healthcare” are intended for nurse leaders to make AI implementation more successful. Leaders should identify the problem they want to solve with AI and their approach to integrate AI into the workflow. They should ensure team members possess the right competency to make decisions based on the AI’s output. Leaders should understand how the AI was trained, and ensure proper safeguards are instilled to ensure correct and unbiased results. Nurses should be involved in AI design and implementation to enable health systems to incorporate it smoothly into workflows. (HealthLeaders Media article, 8/26/24)
