NCC commends Senate spending bill
The Nursing Community Coalition released a statement commending the Senate Appropriations Committee for maintaining funding for nursing education, workforce development and research. The proposal would provide $310.472 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development programs, a $5 million increase over fiscal year 2024 levels. The proposal keeps funding on par with FY 2024 levels at $197.693 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research. Although short of the NCC’s initial funding request, the NCC prefers the Senate version to the House’s proposal to cut and consolidate programs. The NCC plans to work with both chambers when Congress reconvenes in September to pass a budget before the Sept. 30 deadline to ensure nursing programs remain fully funded. AONL is one of 64 organizations in the NCC. (NCC statement, 8/6/24)
