NCC applauds spending on nursing, health in Biden budget
The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) applauded the Biden Administration’s fiscal year 2022 budget, which includes what it termed “historic investments” in public health, education, the nursing workforce and research. Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs received a $3.5 million increase for efforts to diversify the workforce; and the National Institutes of Nursing Research received a 14% increase over current levels, including $20 million for research into health disparities. An NCC news release also noted support for other priorities, including veteran’s health, mental health, public health infrastructure, maternal mortality, the opioid epidemic and efforts to address racial disparities in health care. AONL is one of 63 national nursing organizations that make up the NCC. (NCC news release, 6/1/21)
