Houston Methodist’s Tech Hub Spurs Nurse Innovation

Houston Methodist’s nurses participate in its tech hub, a laboratory to spur innovation. Before testing innovations on patients, the system pilots ideas in the tech hub, which contains rooms simulating the patient’s experience at home and at the hospital. The tech hub incorporates Houston Methodist’s virtual nursing platform and digital whiteboards displaying care team members and the patient’s isolation status or risks. Gail Vozzella, an AONL member and Houston Methodist’s senior vice president and CNE, says nurse involvement in innovation enables the system to receive direct feedback and disseminate technology rapidly.
