Hospital leaders urge Congress to pass SAVE Act
AONL member Kate FitzPatrick, DNP, RN, this week participated on a panel urging Congress to protect health care workers from violence. The executive vice president and CNE at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia spoke during a Capitol Hill briefing co-hosted by the American Hospital Association. She described how the bipartisan Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees Act (H.R. 2584/S. 2768) would protect health care workers from violence, alleviate workforce challenges and sustain quality patient care. Last week, the AHA and other hospital organizations sent a letter to the bill sponsors highlighting the need for the SAVE Act. AONL also supports the bill. (AHA news article, 1/30/24)
