HCA partners with FIU to address nursing faculty shortage
To help address the national nursing shortage, Nashville-based HCA Healthcare donated $1.5 million to Florida International University’s (FIU) Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences. The money will be used to expand the faculty and fund scholarships. The partnership is part of HCA Healthcare’s commitment of $10 million over three years to advance diversity in health care by supporting historically Black colleges and universities and Hispanic serving institutions. FIU is a federally designated Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution with a student body that is 61% Hispanic. (HCA Healthcare Today article, 4/26/22)
