Disparities task force action plan targets hypertension in pregnancy

The National Racial Disparities Task Force recently published an action plan highlighting strategic priorities for improving outcomes in Black women who experience hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The recommendations ─ centered on community engagement, improving health care practices and catalyzing research ─ seek to address significant gaps in how Black women in the U.S. experience care. The action plan builds on the experiences of Black women and calls upon health care providers, systems, nonprofit organizations and other stakeholders to undertake actionable strategies within their programs. Separately, Ochsner Health Medical Center in New Orleans is reducing pregnancy-related complications by tracking patients during pregnancy, visiting patients after delivery and addressing the social determinants of health.
