Congress urged to pass nursing workforce bill

In a letter to House and Senate leaders, the American Hospital Association and 37 other health organizations urge Congress to include the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act (H.R. 6025/S. 3211) in the end-of-year package. The bipartisan bill, an AONL advocacy priority, includes a provision to expedite visas for foreign-trained nurses and physicians in medically underserved areas. It would initiate a one-time recapture of up to 25,000 unused employment-based visas for foreign-born nurses to strengthen and provide stability to the U.S. health care system. (AHA letter, 11/20/24)
