Congress Passes Lorna Breen Provider Protection Act
Last week, the Senate passed bipartisan legislation, which will fund education, support services and an awareness campaign aimed at improving wellness and preventing suicide among nurses, physicians and other front-line health workers. The Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act (S.4349) is named for a physician who died by suicide after caring for patients in New York City at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. AONL supported the legislation, which previously passed in the House and now awaits President Biden’s signature. (HealthLeaders Media article, 2/22/22)
