Care preference inequities remain, survey finds
Adults ages 50 and older believe their care preferences are being considered more often, but significant racial, economic and geographic inequities remain, according to a SCAN Foundation report released this month. Black (62%) and Hispanic adults (52%) ages 50 and older were less likely to report their care preferences were always or usually considered compared to white adults (83%). Those with household incomes less than $30,000 were less likely to say their care preferences were always or usually considered (66%) compared with those with incomes greater than $75,000 (85%). Southerners (72%) were less likely to report care preferences were always or usually considered compared with those living in the Northeast (76%), West (77%) and Midwest (80%).
