Bill to stop Medicare cuts passes House, Senate
In a Dec. 9 bipartisan vote, the Senate passed legislation supported by the American Hospital Association (AHA) and AONL that would stop Medicare cuts to hospitals, physicians and other providers from going into effect early next year. The House passed the bill earlier this week and President Biden is expected to sign it into law soon. The bill extends the moratorium on the 2% Medicare sequester cuts until April 1, 2022, and reduces the cuts from 2% to 1% from April 1 through June 30, 2022. AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack said the legislation’s provisions remove the “uncertainty these cuts were creating for our nation’s caregivers.” (AHA Special Bulletin, 12/9/21)
