Begley interviews safety officer on workforce, patient safety

In a new American Hospital Association podcast series focused on patient safety, AONL CEO Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, interviews Tom Peterson, MD, vice president and chief safety officer at Trinity Health in Livonia, Mich. They discuss how Trinity’s focus on workforce and patient safety is improving care and worker satisfaction. Trinity stresses zero harm for both their employees and patients. Trinity has trained 100,000 of its employees in safety behaviors and has reduced workplace violence through de-escalation and a violence assessment tool. It has implemented interventions to reduce patient falls and harm following surgeries. The podcast series is part of the AHA’s Patient Safety Initiative. Begley also serves as AHA CNO and senior vice president of workforce.
