Assessment tool helps hospitals onboard ICU nurses
An assessment tool can aid hospitals in better identifying knowledge gaps and educational needs of nurses starting positions in critical or progressive care. Developed by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the online assessment tool randomly generates validated questions in more than 10 areas, offering an objective way for educators to move beyond checklists and self-reported knowledge. Hospitals can use the tailored assessment results to create personalized orientation plans to address specific learning needs. Educators can use the tool can as a pretest to collect baseline assessment data at the start of orientation and as a post-test to confirm knowledge gaps have been met. (Newswise release, 2/13/24)
