AMA funds standardized blood pressure training for nursing schools
The American Medical Association is awarding $100,000 in grants to five universities to improve standardized blood pressure instruction. A dearth of standardized blood pressure training among nurses, doctors, physician assistants and other health care professionals is resulting in inaccurate readings and contributing to under- and over-treatment of hypertension, AMA says. Johns Hopkins University, Nova Southeastern University, University of Washington, Stony Brook University and University of Pittsburgh will receive the grants to provide interactive lessons to nearly 5,000 students.
