AACN members endorse vision for research-focused doctorates

The 850 nursing schools affiliated with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) endorsed The Research-Focused Doctoral Program in Nursing: Pathways to Excellence last week. The position statement promotes quality and innovation in nursing PhD and other research-focused doctoral programs, and it makes recommendations related to students, faculty, curriculum and evaluation. The statement also identifies educational pathways to the PhD and career paths for program graduates; resources for faculty support and development; recommendations for accommodating international students; and expectations for dual PhD-DNP and post-doctoral fellowship programs.
