National Time Out Day asks surgical teams to pause

The Joint Commission and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) will hold National Time Out Day on June 8 to underscore the need for surgical teams to make adequate time to pause before a procedure for prevention of wrong site, wrong person or wrong procedure surgeries. AORN members are concerned time outs may be conducted hastily in 2022 because surgical teams are working through an accumulation of operations postponed during the pandemic.
