Three health leaders named honorary Academy fellows
The American Academy of Nursing will pay tribute to three leaders during the association’s annual policy conference in October. Fitzhugh Mullan, MD, will be recognized for his lifelong commitment to social justice, health equity and health workforce improvement. Peri Rosenfield, PhD, will be honored for her career studying aging, the nursing workforce and nursing care across care settings. Annette Sobel, MD, MS, will be made an honorary fellow for her research and leadership in finding interprofessional solutions to the challenges of responding to disasters and providing care in an aeromedical environment. Each leader will receive the Academy’s Honorary Fellow distinction, which is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated “a firm commitment to nursing and to transforming health policy and practice.” (American Academy of Nursing news release, 8/12/19)
