Resilience scale used in business can inform nurse managers
Researchers from Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Calif., found that a tool developed for assessing workplace resilience in corporate settings works well with nurse managers. The Resilience at Work (R@W) tool, developed by organizational psychologists in 2011, uses a seven-point scale to help users identify areas where workers need to build greater resiliency. Leaders at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center are using insights gained from using the tool to identify and cultivate the resilience skills their nurse managers need to succeed as nurse leaders.
