Transition program for nurse managers improves competency

An article in the December issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration affirms the value of role transition programs for novice nurse managers. AONL piloted a transition-to-practice program for nurse managers in 2020. The evidence-based practice project resulted in significant improvement in leadership competencies and was used in the development of an AONL nurse manager transition-to-practice program, which will be offered in 2021. The program included a foundational curriculum focused on management and leadership paired with peer-to-peer sharing of lived experiences.
