Surgeon General releases first smoking cessation report in 30 years
The Surgeon General released a report on smoking cessation reviewing and updating the evidence on why it is important to quit smoking. The report covers the health and economic benefits of smoking cessation to both the individual and society, updates findings on nicotine addiction and highlights a wide variety of interventions proven to increase smoking cessation. Major conclusions included: smoking cessation benefits individuals of all ages, reduces the risk of premature death and reduces the financial burden smoking puts on smokers, health care systems and society.
