Report: GNE pilot increases number of APRNs

A report on the Graduate Nurse Education (GNE) demonstration project concluded the federally funded pilot was effective in achieving its goals, with schools receiving GNE funds graduating an additional 35 students on average than comparable schools. GNE was designed to increase the number of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) by expanding APRN clinical education opportunities at community-based sites. The full report is available on the website of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which funded the pilot. The document provides information on how the GNE pilot, which was authorized by the Affordable Care Act, was implemented as well as its costs and its potential sustainability.
