Pragmatic trials planned to test dementia care models
The National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health, will fund pragmatic trials to test dementia care interventions in real-world settings. Brown University in Providence, R.I., will partner with Massachusetts-based Hebrew Senior Life to manage the trials, which are expected to receive $53.4 million over five years. The goal is to spur innovation in care management for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Unlike traditional research, the trials will test dementia care models in everyday settings such as hospitals, homes, assisted living facilities, adult day centers and nursing homes.
