NCC supports Momnibus Act
The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) wrote to the co-sponsors of the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act of 2021 (H.R. 959/S. 346) to reiterate the coalition’s support for the legislation. The act takes a multi-pronged approach to addressing the social determinants that result in disproportionate harm to Black women during pregnancy and after giving birth. The bill also includes provisions aimed at protecting maternal health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., a nurse, sponsored the bill in the House of Representatives. AONL is one of 63 national nursing organizations that comprise the NCC. (NCC letter, 4/29/21)
