NCC requests change to Title VIII funding bill language
The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) has updated its request to Congress to ensure Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs receive the full amount of funding appropriated for their use. The letter flags language in a fiscal 2019 appropriations bill, which resulted in the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services withholding $15 million from the Nurse Faculty Loan Program. The NCC is requesting corrections to language in the fiscal 2020 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill. “This correction will have a major impact on the future nursing workforce,” the letter states. It also urges the lawmakers to continue supporting the National Institute for Nursing Research. AONL is an NCC member organization. (NCC letter 12/5/19)
