HHS launches 'surge' COVID-19 testing in hotspot states
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced free COVID-19 testing in Jacksonville, Fla., Baton Rouge, La. and Edinburg, Texas to temporarily increase federal support to areas experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The testing sites will be active for five to 12 days with a plan to perform 5,000 free tests per city, per day. The tests are available to individuals five years and older who are experiencing symptoms or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Anyone who is worried about having the virus can also be tested. (HHS news release, 7/7/20)
