HHS competitions aim to improve maternal health
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued two challenges aimed at improving maternal health. The first, a $3.3 million competition, will identify programs that provide effective monitoring and follow-up care to pregnant and/or postpartum women with hypertension. The second, an $800,000 competition, will identify effective, programs that increase breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates and decrease disparities among breastfeeding mothers in the United States. The deadline to submit applications for Phase 1 of both challenges is Nov.16, 2020. (HHS news release, 10/15/20)
