ECRI releases 2020 top 10 list of patient safety concerns
The independent, nonprofit ECRI released its annual white paper on the top 10 patient safety concerns facing health care organizations. As collaboration across institutions has become increasingly important in health care, this year’s list highlights concerns across the continuum of care. Missed and delayed diagnoses ranked number one. “It takes time to obtain an accurate history and perform a comprehensive physical, and clinician-patient communication is crucial," the executive brief says. Among the other top safety concerns: the need to address issues contributing to high maternal mortality and the need to better recognize the behavioral needs of patients to avert violence in the workplace.
