Diabetes may place people at higher risk of severe COVID-19 infection
People with diabetes appear to be at higher risk of having more severe COVID-19 infections, but researchers have insufficient data to quantify that risk, according to an April 8 evidence review by the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM). One systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies of primarily Chinese patients found a substantial association between diabetes and greater COVID-19 severity. The study has yet to be peer-reviewed. (CEBM evidence summary, 4/8/20)
