Coalition calls for boost in federal health funding
The Coalition for Health Funding, which includes AONL, wrote to the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations this month to urge Congress to significantly boost federal investments in health in FY 2021. “The programs and services funded by the Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee have a profound impact on health and well-being, child development, educational and skills attainment, and productivity,” the letter stated, noting federal allocations in these areas have declined over the last decade when adjusted for inflation. “We believe that the long-term impact of COVID19 and the outcomes of future pandemics will be catastrophic if we do not provide robust investments through annual appropriations,” the letter concluded. The Coalition represents 371 organizations. (Coalition for Health Funding letter, 4/16/20)
