CNO advocates structure, support and strategy

In a recent interview in HealthLeaders Media, AONL member Beth Polivka, said structure, support and strategy are key to successfully growing hospital service lines. The chief nurse officer at CoxHealth in Springfield, Mo., was previously responsible for developing the women and children’s service line for the community hospital system. Her efforts resulted in better maternity care for pregnant women addicted to opioids and for children needing access to pediatric specialists. CoxHealth also established a pediatric specialty center in Springfield, reducing the need for children to travel to St. Louis and Kansas City for care. (HealthLeaders Media article, 4/5/21)
