Cleveland Clinic, vendor release COVID-19 home-monitoring tool
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cleveland Clinic worked with its electronic health record (EHR) vendor to customize its EHR to facilitate home monitoring of patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19. The tool gives patients access to education, condition tracking and treatment information and allows them to engage with their care team to manage their progress and recovery. The system also integrates population management tools, which has generated insights into the course of the disease. Cleveland Clinic patients who needed escalation typically experienced worse symptoms by day eight, and shortness of breath was the most common symptom. (Becker’s Health IT story, 5/1/20)
