Checklist facilitates disclosure of COVID-19 exposure
A checklist standarding the disclosure of possible or known exposure to COVID-19 may aid health care institutions faced with notifying patients, family members and employees. Disclosure teams must respond to clinical questions; instruct patients on containment strategies; provide emotional support; connect people with resources for self-quarantine and diagnostic testing; and engage in contact tracing. Clear communication skills and cultural sensitivity are also helpful. The checklist appears in the Journal on Quality and Patient Safety (JQPS). (JQPS commentary, 8/1/20)
