CDC updates symptom-based strategy for ending COVID-19 isolation
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) posted updated guidance this week on ending isolation of adults with COVID-19. New evidence suggests isolation for most people with COVID-19 can be discontinued 10 days after symptom onset, provided symptoms have improved and no fever is present for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. The guidance is intended to limit unnecessary extended isolation and preserve laboratory testing resources. The guidance does not apply to severely immunocompromised individuals.
