CDC updates infection prevention guidance
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its infection prevention guidance for health care personnel on Feb. 10. The update expands options for source control—the use of well-fitting cloth masks, face masks or respirators—and expands patient care activities in areas where a moderate to high risk of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 exists. The guidance also updates nurse-directed triage protocols for scheduling appointments, routine medical care and care for patients with a suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection, and COVID-19 screening processes for those entering a health care facility.
