CDC updates infection control guidance for health care personnel
Last week the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released an update to its 1998 guidelines on preventing and controlling infection in the health care workplace. For use by health care personnel responsible for workplace health and safety, the updated guidelines apply to outpatient and long-term care settings as well as hospitals. Among the changes are the inclusion of ways to use performance measures to guide quality improvement initiatives aimed at preventing and controlling infections. (AHA News story, 10/21/19)
