CDC updates coronavirus infection control recommendations
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) this week issued updated recommendations for health professionals on how the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) spreads and steps health care facilities can take to minimize exposure to the infection while delivering health services. The agency is tracking the location of confirmed 2019-nCoV cases and working closely with state, local and tribal partners to combat the threat to public health. The CDC’s Guidelines for Environmental Infection Control in Health-Care Facilities and Guideline for Isolation Precautions: Preventing Transmission of Infectious Agents in Healthcare Settings contain detailed information on environmental infection control in health care settings. The CDC 2019-nCoV website also contains recommendations regarding clinical management, air or ground medical transport. (CDC guidelines, 2/3/20)
